There are millions of KBBQ aka Korean BBQ joints in Seoul. So it could be a little challenging to find a great one although there are many good ones. This is an excellent one. You wouldn’t think so from the somewhat generic exterior. Once you get inside and see and feel the atmosphere, it is a complete different experience.
The meat quality itself is great and they have a huge number of different cuts you can get from pork to beef to even sea eels. I would recommend to stick with the pork as that is what they specialize in. Most people think that just because you have a lot of options that you should try them all. I, as your personal restaurant tester, tried the majority of the menu like I do with all of the places I go to. This place is pork.
This trip we decided to stick with the pork options. We got 4 different cuts: upper neck (목덜미살), cheek (뽈살), lower neck (항정살) , and the pork skin (껍데기). The cuts were of great quality and the prices were very reasonable. The pork cuts were all 10,000 won and the pork skin was 7,000 won. Highly recommend their cheek cut (뽈살)!
We also decided to get a few side dishes as well as they were so cheap. We ordered the fermented soybean soup (된장찌개) which was only a 1,000 won. It was ok but needed a little more punch to it for me, but can’t complain too much when it’s only a buck. Then I had to try the cold noodles (물냉면) as well as I love to finish my meal with this whenever I get KBBQ. It was interesting since they use green tea noodles so I thought it would taste a little different, but there wasn’t much difference from the usual. It just tasted like one of the normal cheap ones you get at any KBBQ place. I don’t actually mind eating it to be honest because sometimes it just hits the spot.
People think that just the food itself makes the food taste good. Honestly, the atmosphere/environment is a huge factor. Koreans love to eat fresh seafood next to the sea. That way you get a beautiful view of the waters and a fresh breeze of the seawater. Have a bottle soju and you are feeling alright.
If you wanna check this place out click on the link below. It is called 조대포 (Jo-Dae-Po). You will enjoy your Korean BBQ experience I promise!
